Gift Recipients

I just received a Gift-Runner gift offer. How do I receive my gift?
You can click on the link in the email or you can visit the redeem your gift page and follow the instructions to enter the code pairs. You will be asked for your contact information for shipping your gift item.

Can I accept a gift anonymously?
Gift-Runner will not share your information with the gift buyer. We protect the identities of both parties in the process in order to make gift-giving online fun and safe. However, we do collect information about you and your shipping address.

Can I have my item shipped to a post office (PO) box?
Most shippers require a street address in order to ship your items. Post office boxes from the United States Postal Service (USPS) are not eligible to receive shipments. However some organizations offer mailbox services that do qualify as shipping destinations.

I just received a surprise gift. Do I have to reciprocate?
There's no reason that one gift needs to be acknowledged with another gift. A "Thank You" is all that is expected. If you do respond with a gift, you may start an endless circle of gift-giving. Of course, if that's what you would like, you may want to reciprocate!

What if I don't like my gift?
According to Peggy Post (the great-granddaughter-in-law of etiquette expert Emily Post) says, "If you get a gift you don't like, the most important thing is to say "thank you" and find something good to say about it."

What if I don't want my gift?
If you choose not to receive your gift, you can simply select the "reject this gift" button and your gift-giver will be alerted that the gift has been rejected. In order to improve our service, we sometimes ask survey questions about why you chose to reject your gift. Your responses to those survey questions are used only for research and marketing purposes and will not be shared with the gift giver.

What if the gift is damaged during shipping?
We want you and your gift recipients to be satisfied with your gift-giving experience. The product you selected was supplied and shipped by one of our partner companies. If your item was damaged in shipping, please refer to the product supplier/shippers instructions on how to contact them for a replacement.

What if the gift needs to be returned?
We want you and your gift recipients to be satisfied with your gift-giving experience. The product you selected was supplied and shipped by one of our partner companies. Each of our partners includes a return policy and information on how to return the item(s) shipped. Please contact the product supplier and shipper for any questions.

Can I opt out of marketing messages?
Our marketing messages are limited to: announcements about new features or new partners, reminders. You can opt-out of the Gift-Runner database by using our do-not-send form. This eliminates your ability to send or receive gifts, and removes you from the mailing list of important messages from Gift-runner.

What if I do not want anyone to send me gifts?

Gift Purchasers

Can I make a completely anonymous purchase?
Gift-Runner will not share your information with the gift recipient. We protect the identities of both parties in the process in order to make gift-giving online fun and safe. However, we do collect information about both the purchaser and the recipient, which means that we cannot truly state that your participation is completely anonymous.

Can I send anything? Can I request a special gift?
If you did not find an item that is suitable for your gift-giving occasion, you can request a custom gift. You can suggest anything, however, Gift-Runner reserves the right to limit the types of products we send as gifts.

Can I recall (stop) my gift?
Customary etiquette rules dictate that you should never give a gift, if you don't feel good about giving the gift. Once you've completed the last step of the Gift-Runner process, you must wait until the gift recipient chooses to accept or reject your gift offer - or until 7 days have passed, whichever comes first.

How will I know if my gift offer is sent?
Gift-Runner will send you an email acknowledgement of your order, once all of the steps are completed and the credit card has been charged.

How will I know if my gift offer has been accepted / rejected?
After your gift recipient makes their selection, Gift-Runner will send you an email with the status of the gift offer (acceptance or rejection).

How will I know if my gift has been shipped?
You will receive an email acknowledgement.

If my gift is rejected, do I have to pay anything?
No. If a gift is rejected, you will receive a full refund for the gift amount and the service fee.

How do I include a message?
On Step 3 of the "send a gift" process, gift buyers can create a customized message that is included in the Gift-Runner gift announcement. Messages sent through by Gift-Runner are limited to 500 characters. Gift buyers can choose whether Gift-Runner sends the message for them or buyers can choose to send the messages themselves. To send a message yourself, simply cut-and-paste the unique gift code pairs into your own message.
